Alligators

Facts about alligators:
  • The name alligator is a English form of el lagarto, the Spanish term for "lizard", which early Spanish explorers and settlers in Florida called the alligator.
  • An average adult American alligator weighs about 800 pounds.
  • Alligators are know for their TERRIFYING teeth, their teeth can crush human bones and that's scary! Alligators are a dark green color. 
  • An alligator can not move its tongue it has to move its head to swallow
  • To hatch, baby alligators use their egg tooth (at the tip of their jaw) to break the egg.
