Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes

Sadako was 2 years old when the first Atomic bombs went off. 10 years later Sudako who was now 12 was diagnosed with Leukemia due to the radiation from the bombs. She was told she only had less then a year to live...

"If you fold one thousand paper cranes your wish will come true..."

Sadako started folding paper cranes hoping that she could make 1,000 and get better. She had made a total of 644 then she died before she could finish. Sadako's friends then finished the rest of the paper cranes in honer of Sadako and buried them with her. A few years after her death it was decided that they should make a peace memorial to represent all the children that had died due to the atomic bombs.

  1. It's a pretty inspiring story. I wish I could have gone to peace night, but honestly, I was feeling like sh*t and couldn't move from my bed.
